OUR STORY

Youdian began with
a sales rep's two pains

First pain: the more forms you fill, the further you drift from the full picture

I did B2B sales for years. The company used Salesforce, and the last thing every day was filling in the system: fields, stages, follow-up notes.

But the real progress of a deal — who met the customer, what came out of it — still had to be pieced together by asking colleagues one by one. The system was full of fields, but held no full picture.

Second pain: the material you saved never gets opened again

The proposals I sent customers, the requirements they sent back, the competitor reports I collected — I saved them all carefully, then never opened them again. When I needed them I could not find them, and when I found them I could not pin down what mattered.

I asked many friends in sales about these two pains: not one of them was spared. This is not any one person's problem — it is a debt the tools' history has never paid off.

The CRM line has run for thirty years — and only grown heavier

1993Siebel put sales management into software
1999Salesforce moved it to the cloud
TodayIt is designed for the people reading reports, not the people meeting customers

Thirty years on, CRM moved from the server room to the cloud — yet sales reps still work for the system.

The knowledge-tools line has run for eighty years — and only grown lighter

1945Vannevar Bush imagined knowledge linked together the way thought is
ZettelkastenThe sociologist Luhmann used 90,000 cross-indexed cards to let notes grow into a system on their own
Recent yearsBacklinked notes turned an eighty-year-old idea into an everyday tool

But this revolution stopped at personal notes — sales work, where knowledge leaks fastest, never caught up.

Youdian stands at the crossing of these two lines

Bring the lightness of backlinked notes into the weight of customer relationships. After a meeting, say a few words; AI recognizes the people, companies, and projects and links them into a network. Drop in any material and AI breaks it into knowledge cards you can query, cite, and reuse. Points connect into lines, lines weave into a plane.

That is where the name comes from: everything begins with a point.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Recording should be as light as speaking;
knowledge belongs to the company, and also to everyone who records it;
every judgment AI makes must come with its evidence.

Point

One WorkLog a day

Say what happened today by voice — 30 seconds is enough; drop in any material you receive.

Line

AI extracts and auto-links

AI recognizes events, people, companies, and projects, and builds backlinks automatically — no manual work.

Plane

Grows into profiles and a knowledge base

Records grow into continuously updated customer profiles; materials become knowledge cards, building a knowledge base that thickens with use.

Future

AI predicts the next step

Once enough is captured, AI begins to anticipate the next move, deal risks, and the right time to follow up.

"The best way to predict a customer's next step is to record every step."
